What does it mean to be fully known and fully free?

1 Corinthians 13:12 (NIV) tells us,

“For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.”

To be fully known means that God sees every part of us—nothing hidden, nothing overlooked. Before you ever spoke a word, took a breath, or made a mistake, He knew you. He formed you with purpose and intention.

We often hide parts of ourselves from others—and sometimes even from God—fearing judgment, rejection, or misunderstanding. We wear masks to appear “fine,” while deep down, we feel unseen or unworthy. But here’s the truth: God already knows it all, and still calls you His own. That’s where real freedom begins.

David wrote in Psalm 139,

“O Lord, You have searched me and known me.”

He knows us well. He knows our fears, our tears, our trials, our vices, our doubts, and our dreams—He even knows what we believe about ourselves. God knows it all, and yet still chooses us as His own. That’s the beauty of grace.

You don’t have to strive to be loved. You don’t have to hide to be accepted. God sees all of you—and He still calls you chosen, beloved, and free.

When we truly grasp this, everything changes. The walls we’ve built begin to fall. The striving quiets. The shame lifts. Because freedom isn’t found in perfection—it’s found in being fully known and fully loved by the One who created you.

So today, rest in this truth:
You are completely seen.
You are completely loved.
And in Christ—you are completely free.
